Wendy posts about the Trio, plus some of my thoughts

Wendy has a post about the Trio.

How should we think about Trio? If Lumen is like a BCBG boutique, the Trio would be like a United Benetton – a bit more fun but probably not as high end. To its credit, the Trio does have a lot of color palettes and material combination options for home buyers.

One Sunday a month or so ago I stopped by the Trio presentation center (located at 3131 Western Ave). The biggest eye opener for me was walking through their mock up of a ‘open one bedroom’. On paper, these open one bedroom floor plans look appealing because while they’re small, they’re not a studio because they usually present some sort of option for closing off the bedroom.

Looking at so many of these floor plans I was even beginning to consider it as an option. That is until I had the chance to walk through one. Don’t kid yourself, they’re small! For instance at the Trio’s mockup you can’t walk around the bed without going through the kitchen. So they must be spec’ing a really small double bed in those floor plans!
At the Trio sales center I was also unimpressed with the low end finishes. I found this finish, while looking good in the photo:

The metal band makes it look cheap in person (reminds me of the counters they have in diners). I’d definitely go with the solid granite option :).
But don’t take my word for it! Check out their sales center and kick the tires, lay in the bed, have a free soda.

    Matt,

I am the Architect of the Trio project and I wanted to address one of your comments. The beds in the open one bedroom floor plans are queen size beds…..not really small doubles. The bed in the sales center is part of the Murphy bed option. The structure of the Murphy bed adds to the total length. You can walk around a queen size bed as shown in the floor plans.

Hi Brenda, thanks for letting us know that it’s because of the murphy bed. You think they’d have put a queen bed in the sales center to give it the sense that the space is bigger instead of smaller?

I'm sorry to hear that about Trio. I was excited when I read about it earlier this year. Oh well you can't win them all. Thanks for the information Brenda.

Considered to be the largest bed size that individuals can order from marketing sites as well as local home improvement stores, the king size bed is commonly manufactured depending on the popular and attractive support designs such as chambers, inner springs, foam and water. People who want this specific kind of bed should choose from the varying sizes offered in their places.
