Lumen’s Neighbor

August 29th, 2006 · 2 Comments

If you buy at Lumen your neighbor to the south is going to be the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation campus. Here are some preliminary design concepts:

Looks nice, but just think of how long it’s going to take them to build it. Couple that noise with Mercer street traffic *shudder*.

As someone who lived next to an in-progress condo construction zone for over a year, I can tell you it’s absolute hell unless you are already up and gone from your place by 7am. The building permits these days are ridiculous. You can even do construction on weekends if you’re “behind schedule” and get the proper clearances. It’s awful.

Even without this project, the noise and honking at that part of Mercer would seem unbearable. Combine that with the fact that dues on a 1000 square foot unit would be a whopping $580 a month and it’s a dead proposition to me.

I looked at Lumen and loved the units but felt it was overpriced. They didn’t like that answer at all and basically told me ‘these will sell out fast’.

Well maybe not because I’ve been getting emails/phone calls from their reps asking to come back in…two months later.
