A Seattle PI article from earlier in the week, Builders try to demolish homeowner ‘rights’ bill:

OLYMPIA — In Washington state, you’ve got more consumer-protection rights when you buy a $25 toaster than you do when buying a $500,000 home, says a former high-stakes trial lawyer who now heads the Senate consumer protection committee.

I emailed Brian Weinstein about this issue. He is the legislator spearheading this initiative. I suggest all homeowners and future homeowners do the same. What builders get away with is criminal. It will be an uphill battle to fight for this bill, though. The story gives a fair summary.
