Meritage delayed again

February 21st, 2007 · Comments · By Matt

My move in to the Meritage has been delayed again. I was supposed to move in first on February 18th, then February 26th and now, who knows. The date is question because the elevator has not yet passed inspection. Hopefully this gets resolved before the end of the month.

Elevator inspection is scheduled for Tuesday afternoon. Hopefully that and the fire control system will pass and we can have TCO on 3/1.

We'll still have to move our stuff into storage and stay at a friend's for at least one night since we rented out our current place and they move in 3/1.

    Matt:

Redfin question - I've tried using IE 6 to access Redfin and it's incredibly, painfully, slow. Any suggestions?

Also - why isn't it Opera friendly?

BTW - I tried to send feedback thru the site and it died.

Well, closing can happen the same day as TCO, but you're right about moving.

Maybe KONE is being overly cautious with their estimate and repair completion and TCO will happen sooner. Yeah right!
  • Which means close and move won't happen until March putting all of us depending on a February close because of rent/whatnot in trouble :(.

The elevator is estimated to be complete Monday 2/26. Hopefully TCO will happen 2/28.

The delay has nothing to do with Economics...

Tell me about it. I'm supposed to move 2/27. Going an extra month is probably going to cost me 1k out of my pocket to stay another month at my current place...if i even can.

Apparently, the motherboard in the computer control system failed and the system is proprietary. Only KONE Elevator could fix it and they haven't bothered to get around to fixing it, even though they accepted a $10,000 payment to expedite the repairs by 2/12.

    We're unit 405.

I'm a little baffled by how hard is it to get an elevator working. Haven't elevators been around for years and years?

    Jason, what unit are you?

The elevator vendor is in the building now! Hopefully they'll get it fixed quickly.

I really don't want to miss my 2/26 moving time.

It's a little more than that. The elevator vendor isn't meeting its obligations to get the elevator functioning so that it can be inspected.

I hope they get out there immediately and fix the elevator. However, they've already been flaking out for weeks now. I'm not sure what's going to get them to rush all of a sudden. A $10,000 payment to expedite the work didn't do anything.
