[...] The ever-vigilant Matt Goyer of Urbnlivn reports his impressions (and shares a good collection of links to other reports): Overall the Expo was a bust but the talks were good. To get a sense of who was all there I uploaded the map of the showroom floor. As you can see there were a lot of downtown condo projects not represented there and for the ones that were there the representation was lacking. Ben summed it up pretty accurately in his blog post about the event: The expo was billed as the “ultimate urban open house”. If you were a prospective buyer, it was anything but. … [...]

The expo can be a good idea. I was disappointed they didn't do much for demonstrating their projects. It reminded me of visiting a dealership on Lake City Way where when I asked how much a car was, they said, "oh, around $40k". What? Just tell me the price!

The web is a better forum for creating a virtual marketplace. I prefer to look for condos at www.CondoCompare.com where you can:
-Line condos up side by side
-Sort my price per square foot
-Look at pictures
-Analyze sold data
-Get inside the condo within 30 minutes.

The new construction projects will be grand when they are done, but today, I want information, real information, to see what I get and at CondoCompare.com I get what I want. Today!

oops...pressed the wrong button

to continue...didn't like to read that +70% of condo buyers are sellers as well. That is actually bad news for the market and I think partly shows that not enough entry level inventory is being built. Also means that if the market goes south even a little, and buyers have trouble selling their current house/condo, the condo market might be in for a world of hurt.

Hope they continue the expos and do some of the things that you have talked about. If they can do it for cars, why not condos.

Nice writeup. Not sorry I missed the expo, I think it would be alot of fun if the developers actually had info, models, etc.

Expos need to provide you with something to do, an incentive to walk around the floor, like eating all of the cake at the Seattle Wedding Expo.

In other news, CRAP! There's another Justin! There's always another Justin! Blast.
