Join us at the aerie of Seattle’s tallest skyscraper for our fourth in an occasional series of Urbnlivn Meetups, where you can share your passion for Urbnlivn.com, downtown Seattle and all things condo:
When:
Wednesday, 29-Aug-2007
6:00 to 9:00 p.m.
Where:
Columbia Tower Club
701 Fifth Avenue, 75th Floor
(corner of Fifth Ave. and Columbia St.)
No-host soda and full bar – Hosted appetizers
If you haven’t attended one of our Meetups yet, here’s your chance to join us in building a true sense of community and augmenting Urbnlivn.com’s consumer-empowerment potential.
Nothing beats getting to know each and sharing tips on how to deal with hard-sell condo marketing tactics, uncertain economic times, and flux in the mortgage world. New to condo living and wondering how to get a handle on an unfamiliar set of Conditions, Covenants & Restrictions? Come to the Meetup and find out how to thrive among the self-imposed rules promulgated by condo associations.
Our Meetups also serve as a celebration of our role in Seattle’s transformation into a denser, more vibrant, but still wild, metropolis. Plus, we’ll get to hear directly from Matt Goyer – his angst is our enlightenment – on the latest ups and downs he’s experienced in attempting to sell one condo and close on another.
Extra Special Incentive:
Thanks to the Columbia Tower Club for hosting our Meetup and providing some delectable appetizers. A no-host bar will be provided, with drink prices (including tax and tip), ranging from about $4 to $8. Not only will we be meeting in splendor, but all Urbnlivn Meetup participants will have the opportunity to join the Columbia Tower Club during the next 30 days and pay the reduced initiation fee of $250 (versus the standard rate of $1,500). Woo-hoo! And, as an extra-extra special incentive, there’s always the renowned Columbia Tower Club Women’s Room to check out. That’s the one with the sign out front: “Gentlemen: This is the WOMEN’S Room. If you’d like a tour, please see the concierge.” So, if you gotta know the secret, come to the Meetup.
RSVP:
Given the generous offer of Columbia Tower Club, we need to have a fairly accurate estimate of attendees. Please use the Comments to indicate if you’ll be attending and specify the number in your party.
What better way to spend a midweek summer night? Hope you’ll join us on the 29th!

I would love to attend… I am not positive I can go, but if I can, I will be there.
Lots to talk about!

I’ll be there. Thanks Matt and Carl for organizing this.
This is my first comment, although I’ve read UrbnLivn religiously for months and recommend it to my friends. I bought my condo in a converted apartment building near Madison Park beach in 2003, and spent much of the last 3 years renovating it. So I can share photos and stories of the adventures of DIY renovation, and the realities of 1960s apartment buildings. While I like the location, I do fantasize about an International Style condo on a high floor in downtown…

I’ll be there. This’ll be the first that I attend. I’ve seen the lady’s room, but it’ll be wonderful to visit again. =)

Thanks Carl and Matt! This sounds super. I am curious about Eric K.’s realities of 1960s apartment buildings. I purchased a converted condo in Ballard in June. What a great location, thanks again!

Thanks for arranging this… I’ll be there! It’s a great way to stay plugged into the development of Seattle.

I haven’t been to the CTC since my housemate dropped his membership because he was spending too much money there! This should be fun. I will be there.

What’s that I hear?
Columbia Tower Club?
Free Food?
Cheap Drinks?
Hmmmmm…sounds enticing.
$250 membership?…not bad…I also heard that there is another $125 monthly fee. A bit pricey but the view is nice.
So…being the fault finder that I am…I heard that they have a dress code. Something about not wearing jeans? Is that true? Puhleeeeze. If that’s gonna be the case I just might join and then go hit up the local thriftshops for a light blue polyester leisure suit or something of that caliber. If they won’t take casual…I’ll give em ugly!
Also…if I join…is there a time limit on how long I can be there? Can I sit around dressed in Seersucker all day drinking mint juleps and iced tea while reading thick pretentious novels while I soak in the view? Do they have a chessboard?
My only prediction for the event is that EVERYBODY will at least have the thought go through their head that says…
“If I could only turn this into a condo”
Matt…on the other hand has probably already done preliminary interior design renderings.

This time I promise to be there, and am looking forward to seeing EconE’s ‘price sensitivity suit’.
22 newbuyer // Aug 25, 2007 at 4:38 pm
I plan on being there. Me + 2 if that’s okay.
23 EconE // Aug 25, 2007 at 6:15 pm
What’s a “price sensitivity suit”?
Do you guys really think I’m gonna show up looking like Bootsy Collins?
