‘Fuck you condo’

I was getting my hair cut on Capitol Hill this afternoon when I noticed this anti-condo vandalism:

1593075042 118b5f5630 m Fuck you condo

1592185065 90b10aed94 m Fuck you condo

I wonder where they want the condos to go?

About Matt

Matt , Urbnlivn's publisher, has a love for lofts with industrial features and new construction condos that is only eclipsed by his passion for outdoor sports and urban living. Maybe CWD will someday live up to their promise of quickly removing graffiti. It was reported on Sunday and it’s still there.

I’ve been trying to get them to actually clean the elevator for the last month. :(

This crap is everywhere. It’s all over the concrete wall surrounding the development at Thomas and Belmont. They also did it to a retaining wall at Thomas Street Park: “Go away condos Fuck you yuppys”. I’m sure there’s more.

Are you sure that an “owner” with an IO ARM didn’t paint this?

    Urban Art!

Are you really all that surprised?

    I’m not.

However…I must say that the artist doesn’t quite succeed at delivering the message. Maybe something along the lines of “Fu#k You Greedy Developers” was what they were really trying to say.

At least they did a nice job of color matching to the brick.

Let’s hope our condos don’t end up looking like this guys “crib”…

Some people seriously need to get a life. I have seen this in quite a few places around Seattle. Ballard, downtown – you name it. I thought Seattle was supposed to be liberal and tolerant…

    Tims S:

    Liberal and tolerant?

We’ll see how tolerant you are when your favorite businesses close because the landlords raise the rent, drove out the tenants so they could sell to a developer to build a condo there.

We’ll see how tolerant you are when the same thing happens to the apartment complex where YOU live. Of course probably you’re well off enough that you’ll probably never experience such a thing.

I’m sure he was deeply affected by the two single family houses torn down to build Meritage.

The fact is the ongoing wave of development is changing our city for the worse. While i understand the idea of “revitalizing” or “developing” neighborhoods that proponents of condo development tend to put forth, they all ignore the crucial fact that neighborhoods – and our entire city – are more than mere plots of land. Neighborhoods are not clusters of buildings they are communities of HUMAN BEINGS. when you drive people out by replacing viable housing options with unaffordable “luxury” buildings you destroy the neighborhood that was once there. The charm of neighborhoods like fremont or ballard that developers attempt to appropriate as a sales pitch would never have existed were it not for the people living in those neighborhoods. When you replace the people who create that culture with people paying a premium to bask in it, you turn living culture into a disney land attraction. at a certain point, seattle will just be another unaffordable city like new york or san francisco, where any remaining character is the exclusive property of those who can afford it
