It is out of date. Blogspeak rules.

Uhm, isn't the blog name a clue that the formal rules of modern American writing will not be followed? Or is my dictionary out of date?
  • Just blame it on the beers Matt!

    Burp.

"I cant over-emphasize that last point.

Agreed. If a blogger wants to appear uneducated and grammatically challenged, that is well within their rights. Mr. Schorr's take on blogging doesn't condone poor grammar, however.

Blogging and other collaborative technologies, and on-line video are rapidly maturing.

62% of online video viewers say that their favorite videos are those that are professionally produced, according to the Pew Internet & American Life Projects first major report on online video.

As a technical writer and editor, I can assure you that a blogger's credibility is diminished when their content is poorly written. That said, the wanker who complained about Matt's writing might have been taken more seriously if they offered assistance rather than sharp criticism. We all need editing.

    from another blog...

91-year-old NPR man Daniel Schorr's take on blogging (http://www.sacbee.com/107/v-print/story/634053....),
"But today, your blogger is totally free. He is his own reporter, his own editor, his own publisher, and he can do whatever he wants."

    I can't over-emphasize that last point.

Actually, fanmail, I find the idiosyncratic spelling/grammar/punctuation part of what makes this site so endearing. There aint nothing else like Urbnlivn.com. Maybe the PI and Seattle Times have fewer misspellings, but they sure dont capture the twists and turns of the Seattle downtown condo market the way this site does.

Since Matt is an incredibly inclusive person, Im sure hed welcome fanmails service as editor, even if that means homogenizing some of the sites genius. Are you up for it? (But, fair warning, your sentence should have read "Your grammar/spelling/punctuation ARE abysmal," so you'll need to take a remedial English course beforehand.)
