The Model Residents of Model Apartments

Vladimir recently sent me a link to a New York Magazine article on the marketing of condos in New York, If You Lived Here, You’d Be This Guy by Now.

Meet “Stefan”:

The article goes on to talk about the extents marketing is going to in order to sell to a particular person and lifestyle. Though I like this quote:

Does any of this work? Nobody knows for sure. Not one real-estate professional I spoke to could cite evidence showing that these maneuvers boost sales. Indeed, one wonders whether they put off buyers who don’t share the precise tastes they reflect.

Maybe it’s working because I have an appointment with Jon Rosichelli on Monday to try and get more appropriate pieces for my loft. Jon’s the one behind the staging at The Marlborough, Trace Lofts and has staged a number of other interesting spaces for sale in Seattle.

About Matt Goyer

I love condos, lofts, floating homes, new construction and mid-century moderns so much so that since starting this blog in 2006 I've written over 2,000 blog posts about them!

For years I resisted becoming a real estate agent preferring to be a marketing executive at Redfin but after leaving Redfin (after seven years!) I caved in the spring of 2014 and became a broker. So if you need help finding that "Urbnlivn-style" place or selling your home email me at matt@urbnlivn.com, I'd be happy to help you.

Prior to Urbnlivn and Redfin, I worked at Microsoft after graduating from the University of Waterloo with a Bachelor of Mathematics with a major in computer science.

You can also find me on Twitter, @MattGoyer, or LinkedIn.
