A reader writes in with their own update on Brix:
Being on the Hill, I’m surprised that you haven’t done any recent posts on Brix, given that it’s getting close to being finished. They told us August 1st completion on the Broadway side (July for the 10th Ave side). Seems pretty aggressive to me, but I guess we’ll see. :-)

Thanks Matt for the posting. I realize that I’m biased (being a buyer), but it just seems to me that Brix is the best looking new project being built on the Hill. You don’t tend to see all brick buildings with large glass floor to ceiling windows being built outside of downtown. I’m just kind of surprised, given the quality of construction and it’s primo location (one block from QFC and the library, a couple blocks from light-rail, and all the restuarants right out the door), that I haven’t seen more press about it.
I’m sure the construction dates are preliminary. We all know how the process works. I guess it’s better to think you’re going to close early than think it’s a couple months out and turns out you have to close in a week.

I’m pretty impressed with Brix as well, I also liked that they offered some choice on the finishes unlike some *cough Trace* projects. The location is great for restaurants and the best QFC in the area. We used to live in an Anhalt down the street a bit and when we moved to other side of Cap Hill not having that huge QFC a couple blocks away was a bit hard to get used to at first.

If they ever get moving on the apartment building that’s basically across the st, the north end of broadway’s gonna be seriously nicer than it is now.

The great thing about Brix is it’s upscale qualities that will definitely bring a little more of an aesthetic appeal to the north end of Broadway. It’s location is great, being in such a vibrant area. For those who don’t know much about the building, I would highly encourage you to go to the sales center and see a the model, as well as the vignettes and finish selections to really see what I am talking about when I say “upscale qualities”. I agree with Eric when it comes to the minimal amount of press it has received. And I, too might be biased as I used to work at the sales center for 6 months, but I believe it is one of the better looking projects I’ve had the chance to know in and out.

So far we’ve been very impressed with the solid construction at Brix, attention to planning and details, and especially excellent on-going communication with us buyers. Brix’s master policy includes earthquake insurance and other features that are also impressive.
We have some special media and technology needs and working with Home Technologies (subcontracted by Brix for media wiring etc.) has been a joy.
I would echo the comments above and say that if you are at all in the market, this is one to check out right away. Once folks get a whiff of the quality and location here, the remaining units will go quickly.
