The most that you stand to lose is your earnest money. If you can't afford the condo and close anyway, you stand to lose a lot more than that. Call a real estate attorney and have them review your P&S. Or, go back to Schnitzer and tell them you won't close unless they renegotiate the price, due to general market conditions. They might flex a bit of muscle, but they are desperate to keep buyers in any condo project and will make concessions. A few layoffs already at my small co. Felt safe when I signed but now feel only safe-ish. Like maybe the reward doesn't seem worth the risk.
