Condo Automation Company, HTI, Kaput?

A year ago I wrote about HTI Technologies a company that does all sorts of high tech additions for condos and homes like automated shades, home automation, fancy TV+stereo setups, etc. In fact, they’re the preferred vendor for buildings like Lincoln Tower, 1521, the Vulcan projects, Olive 8, Brix, Equinox, Gallery and the list goes on.

I’m hearing that the company went bankrupt today and were taken over by the bank. The tip comes from a reader who has heard this from a number of sources. I’ve tried to independently confirm the rumor but haven’t be able to yet.

If it’s true, this will leave a number of condo owners and developers who paid for upgrades in the lurch.

About Matt

Matt , Urbnlivn's publisher, has a love for lofts with industrial features and new construction condos that is only eclipsed by his passion for outdoor sports and urban living. Phrases such as “polished concrete” and “exposed brick” are music to his ears. You can also find Matt on Twitter or skiing.

I soooo hope this is not true. I prepaid for a pricey $hade package and it was due to be installed later this month. I have reached out to all of my contacts there to check status. I'll update if I find out anything.

Matt I am in the business and it is true. I just drove by to take a look and in fact there is a sign on the door saying that they were done as of June 6, 2009. It really is sad, I guess a sign of the times. I was on the phone with James Stroupe when he got you Twitter about it.

Matt– I said it before (on your thread 1 year ago) and I'll say it again — the folks at HTI are (were) incompetent and — considering this tough economic climate, certainly deserve to go out of business.

We essentially begged them to take our money, and they just couldn't get it together to keep up contact. Other people in my building ended up using them and it's been nothing but grief.

We ended up going with another home tech company on the east side, and while they were still a few mishaps, their customer service was an order of magnitude better than HTI's.

My heart goes out to anybody who has deposits with HTI, but I think the Seattle area is better for HTI's implosion. Good riddance!

It's true, they stole abotu $9,000 from us for our Veer loft.

I live at Veer too and am out $3,000. Lorie, if you paid by credit card you can dispute the charge since the product was not received, the card company should cover it. I have already done so on mine and they issued a conditional credit and I am just waiting for a final confirmation after they finish their investigation process.
