Looks like Pb Elemental has launched the Row 8 Lofts site for their live/work project in South Seattle.
I must say I don’t think I’m a fan of the exterior:

It kinda reminds me of the fortress of a math building where I spent four years of my life.

I generally like Pb Elemental projects but this one leaves me cold. Beyond the gray bulk of the building, lofts are supposed to be infused with light. These look like they will be very dark. Gray building and dark units. Not a winning combination.

I thought these guys were done anyway? I heard a rumor they were belly-up, but apparently not. Not a fan of this building at all.

I live near this site it is a mid-block building so you can only see the front facade, which looks like it will be all glass?

I sort of like the design. I did hear on good authority that PB laid off most of their staff and was cutting back due to the downturn. Maybe this project is just speculative – it costs nothing to put up a website if the designs are already done?
PB has been slashing prices. That white place the founder built in Queen Anne Ave North was cut nearly 50% and just delisted without a sale.

stop designing in sketchup! all of their projects are just offset boxes….well at least they are deviating from their normal materials of cedar, hardie, and painted aluminum…i was getting tired of seeing the same building plopped down and rotated on all of their sites…I think that their new stuff is much better than their recent spec development projects…..the house in queen anne they recently finished is nice and this looks like a take off of that.

The design is pretty bad. The quality of their work has really gone downhill. Too bad, it use to be so good. And from looking at the plans on the website I don't see any parking; I guess that's why they are live-work so they don't have to provide parking. I think that will be a tough sell, especially in a bad neighborhood with not too much parking. It'll end up being another Pb project that doesn't sell. What's new.

After what I heard about the way they treat their employees, more specifically the one's they layedoff, I wouldn't buy anything from them. Although I admit I like their work. This project is ok, certainly not their best.

Another thought: Seattle already has a project named Row 5 (townhomes on 15th) so they ripped off the name. Nice.
