Quite possibly my favorite loft in the city is for sale (the only one it competes with would be the penthouse at 1310 E Union. But if you think you live in a better space, invite me over!) It’s the south-west penthouse at Monique Lofts and is for sale by a longtime Urbnlivn reader.
I had seen pictures of the place on Flickr a while ago, but it wasn’t until last summer when we were invited over one afternoon, that it struck me just how awesome the space is. For starters the ceilings are high, 20 feet, its very spacious and it has great views. True loft living. Plus they have roof rights. And the loft has a long colored history that perhaps the seller will share with us in the comments.
So what’s the awesome space selling for? $719k. It’s 1,339 square feet.

Hey Matt,
Thanks for the post!
I wish I could dish on all the crazy stuff that I've head used to go down in the place prior to my arrival, but I fear that some of the partiers might also be readers here, and I wouldn't want to divulge any secrets. ;)
So all I can really share is my own (much more prosaic) uses for the space:
* rock band parties
* champagne & shellfish extravaganzas
* not-for-profit fundraisers
* movie screenings
* etc
No orgies, no weeklong bacchanalian rituals, no run-ins with the fuzz or the Federales. Kind of boring. I guess Capitol Hill really is gentrifying. Maybe the next owner can restore the space to some of its formerly debauched grandeur.
Oberon: The floors are indeed painted plywood. The effect of using a high-gloss, low-VOC latex porch & floor paint is to bring more light from the windows into the space and have it bounce up into the rafters, filling the space with light from more angles.

Nice place, but that site is a bit hyperbolic. “World Class Penthouse, Utterly Stunning and Rare!” Give me a break. It's a nicely finished but small penthouse in an unremarkable building.
And Ken Burns wants his camera back.
