Condo Remodel Recommendations?

November 17th, 2009 · View Comments · By Matt

A reader is looking for a contractor to do a condo remodel. Here’s how they describe it:

I am looking at expanding the exterior walls of the loft area, moving my wood burning stove to the opposite side of the living room area, and installing a spiral staircase where my closet currently is to go up to the expanded upstair area – phew! Needless to say, it would be a major remodel.

Anyone have a recommendation?

I've been a tile contractor for many years and worked with a lot of builders… First off- What's your budget? Once you have a handle on that you can approach an Architect and or a Design/Build Contractor with your plan. Bring some magazine photos with what you're shooting for in terms of feel- is your home Craftsmen, Traditional, Contemporary, Modern, Eclectic? You'll want to match the existing part of the house that won't be involved in the renovation. Call Tim Coulter w/ Madison Master Builders at 425 417-7772 and get a quote.

Angie's List is a fantastic reference, all the contractor recommendations you could ever want (albeit for a small, reasonable, fee).
