Art Stable in South Lake Union Almost Sold Out

December 29th, 2009 · Comments · By Matt

I don’t know how I completely missed this project but Tom Kundig has designed a building going up South Lake Union (just north of REI) called the Art Stable.

The building is a Point 32 project and is under construction and has pre-sold 4 of the 5 units which are being sold as unfinished shells. The last remaining unit #600 is 2,300 square feet and listed as a for-sale-by-owner on Zillow at $1,850,000. Sadly, out of my price range, this is exactly what I want!

The building structure is really great, the architectural design just suits any ages that occupants will brag about. Everyone will absolutely like to own one or more unit in them. Including myself if I can. LOL.

Nearly $900 a square foot and it's not even finished...add another $500k to really fit out the interiors. I'm skeptical they have actually sold four of these on the open market in the current economy at this price.

I walked past Kundig's other condo project at 1111 East Pike this morning and it is still completely empty except for one penthouse and the show unit. I'm surprised they haven't rented some of these out given that it has been empty for a year now.

Nice renderings but the location sucks - one block from I5 and in a light industrial zone better suited for meth labs. For that money you could buy one of those fancy condo's that are actually in downtown.

have you been in that area lately? it's crackin yo! seriously, lots of cool restaurants and boutique shopping. anyhow, isn't buying somewhere before it booms generally a good idea? Also, "downtown" encompasses 7 different neighborhoods, with this location clearly being in one of them. Granted, it's not 1st and Pike, but it most definitely is downtown. Kundig is also an OG of architecture. He's name brand, and always does something a little unique. Curious. What should a smarter, more artful buyer buy? Love to hear about your humble abode.... BTW, meth labs are always good for strip clubs. Positive and negative to everything. Focus on the strip clubs instead.
