The Alex in Belltown Becomes the VOLTA

Alchemy Real Estate has taken over the sales for the Alex from Maureen Khan of CBB. The project name has also changed to VOLTA. You can find out more about the 34 unit building that was supposed to complete in the fall of ’08 at http://www.voltaonbell.com/. I hear from Alchemy that they intend to release four pre-sale units today and they will be doing hard hat tours on an appointment basis.

I’m sure there is more to this story as I ran into a condo-buyer recently who tried to purchase at Alex last year and was turned away. If anyone has more info let me know.

Update: Units start at $299,950. 28 of 34 units will be priced below $588k. The project will be ready for closing in late June/early July. Units should be hitting the MLS today/early tomorrow.

Even with all the stupid condo building names out there…VOLTA is pretty bad.

Basically, you make up a any ol' word you like, add an “a” at the end of it, and PRESTO!!! Instant marketability! I suppose the marketers think it evokes a place of sophistication and beauty. Hjarta, Noma, Alexandria, Bellora, Cristalla (albeit a nice place), Moda, Aprea, Ava, Candella, Escala, Florera, Asia, Leona, Marc Anna, Serana, Tavona, Veduta (no sh*t), Noma, Tobira, Tribeca, Pedrera, Alfaretta (apts), Elektra, Florena, and now Volta. Excellent! Enough already, we get it.

I've got one! How about “No Mora!”

    I'll second that!

    or perhaps 'REVOLTA'

Agreed. When did buildings start needing names? There's something very tasteful about just calling it by it's address (i.e., “200 Virginia” or “1520 Dexter”)

  • Great stuff. I can’t stand it when we see real estate again with only 1 generic picture in MLS and they wonder why their property isn’t being showed

Wonder if they changed the name because of the number 1 result when you google “alex seattle”
