Another Seattle Condo Blog

October 8th, 2010 by Matt · 12 Comments · Uncategorized

In April, Justin Bowers, the writer and webmaster behind James Stroupe’s condo blog parted ways with James. James’ blog definitely suffered with only a few posts since then. (The pace has picked up recently, perhaps he has a new writer on board?)

Justin, an active commenter on here and other local blogs, has wasted little time in starting a new Seattle condo blog this time on his own instead of ghost writing for someone else. Enter, Seattle Savvy.

Of course, the last thing I want is another Seattle condo blog giving me a run for my money, but the competition is good for you the condo blog reader :). Plus, not being an agent myself, I’m free to blog what I like without fear of running afoul of MLS regulations that prohibit blogging about listings or of angering agents that I may need to work with in the future to get an offer done.

Mr. Bowers dropped by Seattle Bubble back in April, and engaged in some… interesting dialog with the commenters there. He shortly thereafter launched another short-lived site that has since been abandoned: reasonseconeshouldgetbitchslapped.com

    Classy guy!

Competition does tend to be good for the consumer! As long as the info out there is good. So many of the realty blogs are just junk….

I’m not in your area (I’m an agent in Silicon Valley) and was surprised to read about an MLS prohibition about blogging on listings. Is this any listings, including one’s own? Or is the concern that someone would be “advertising” another agent’s listing? Here we can blog about any listing but if it’s not ours, we’re supposed to get permission from the agent/broker first.

Some people are movers and shakers. Mr. Bowers definitely does both.

    Hi Mary!

I agree, there are way too much junk real estate blogs! Hopefully this isn’t one of them :).

Here, you can blog about your own listing, you just can’t blog about other people’s listings because, yes, it would be considered advertising another agent’s listing. Fortunately our MLS has added a status where you can see if they allow blogging without asking permission first, unfortunately it defaults to not allowing blogging and no one seems to change it.
