AIA Seattle Architecture Porn Awards

The Stranger has Hump, and the architects have, the 60th annual AIA Seattle Honor Awards for Washington Architecture. They’re coming up next Monday at the Moore Theater:

With the theme “Essential Architecture: A Dialogue on Principled Design,” this year’s Honor Awards explores what is truly essential about architecture and provides the opportunity for our design community to engage, debate and celebrate work that is visionary, measurable, economical and tectonic.

Blah blah blah. What I’m interested in is the hot, mostly modern, architecture porn in their gallery of submissions.

What we’re interested in is who is up in the condo department.

Visionary

We only consider one in this category as Urbnlivn, Family Pack.

Measurable

There’s lots of entries in this category that fit the Urbnlivn bill:

Economical

Nothing Urbnlivn-y.

Tectonic

Only one here, the Art Stable hinge.

Cast your votes in the comments, who do you think will win?

About Matt Goyer

I love condos, lofts, floating homes, new construction and mid-century moderns so much so that since starting this blog in 2006 I've written over 2,000 blog posts about them!

For years I resisted becoming a real estate agent preferring to be a marketing executive at Redfin but after leaving Redfin (after seven years!) I caved in the spring of 2014 and became a broker. So if you need help finding that "Urbnlivn-style" place or selling your home email me at matt@urbnlivn.com, I'd be happy to help you.

Prior to Urbnlivn and Redfin, I worked at Microsoft after graduating from the University of Waterloo with a Bachelor of Mathematics with a major in computer science.

You can also find me on Twitter, @MattGoyer, or LinkedIn.

LOL @ ‘custom-designed hinge’ and 2250 lbs doors. That’s an HOA nightmare/special assessment/developer lawsuit just waiting to happen.

Who comes up with this stuff?

Guess the old barn door style wasn’t hip enough for them.
Hope they tested them in the wind while they’re open.
