About Matt

Matt , Urbnlivn's publisher, has a love for lofts with industrial features and new construction condos that is only eclipsed by his passion for outdoor sports and urban living. Phrases such as “polished concrete” and “exposed brick” are music to his ears. You can also find Matt on Twitter or skiing.

It is actually a south facing unit. Better views :-)

    Just a few points:
    - The staircase is a DIY unit by Arke (http://www.arkestairs.com/karina.php).
    - Most of these “alternate tread” staircases violate code for living areas—for example, you could not legally install one to get to a second floor of a traditional two-level house. However, loft spaces such as the one shown are typically marked as storage areas, meaning the staircase is kosher but the loft space wouldn’t contribute to the square footage of the unit. I’m surprised they didn’t install the rest of the included railing, though!
    - Is there a door into the bathroom?
    - Why is there a ladder mounted to the ceiling?! :)

The execution of the loft space seems a little incomplete compared to similar spaces (like the ones at Veer). More exposed metal, piping coming up out of the center of the floor, etc. Just an interesting space.
