Gallery Auction Offering 3% Buyer’s Bonus

Last week Gallery announced that they’re offering a 3% buyer’s bonus. I emailed them for more info and this is what I got back since they didn’t have details on their site:

We are offering a 3% bonus to all home buyers which will help them with their closing costs, prepaid interest and escrow fees. In today market all buyers needs a little assistance.

I’m puzzled why they didn’t offer this out of the gate. Was initial interest low and they need something to goose interest?
