Finding “Your” Neighborhood is Hard…

Those of you who are regular readers may remember a short series I started this summer to help people with their apartment hunt. I had high hopes for that series (there’s still like 6 story ideas in my hopper that will come to life someday) but what stopped me short was a post about how to choose a neighborhood.

Here’s why: Every real estate, brokerage, rental, or news/lifestyle/local culture site has some sort of Seattle neighborhood resource. Every real estate, brokerage, rental, or news/lifestyle/local culture site also has a different take on said neighborhoods. Not all neighborhood reference material is complete and it is almost always somewhat subjective. And in trying to boil it down to something useful for out-of-towners I pretty much got stopped in my tracks (and then I got distracted by a loft with polished concrete floors or some such and that was the end of that).

So as I’m still noodling on what advice I’d give to an out-of-towner for figuring out which neighborhood they want to live in (I’m open to suggestions at any time, folks) I’ll point out that Curbed Seattle is hosting the Curbed Cup this week to get your votes on which is the slammin’est Seattle neighborhood of 2011. After all, your votes could help establish yet another star by which to guide out-of-towners — or, you know, just show off a little nabe pride :).

I’m a little confused as to what type of information you are looking to post for neighborhoods.  I deal with Seattle homes, but the neighborhood info is the same.
