Windermere Discontinues iPhone App
I was surprised to hear yesterday that Windermere is discontinuing their iPhone app a bit over two years after they launched it.
An email from Windermere to their agents:
Back in May, we launched Windermere.com with a new “responsive” web design that makes it easy to use across all types of platforms, including mobile devices. Because of this, mobile traffic to Windermere.com has increased, while downloads and usage of the Windermere Real Estate Search App have declined. Industry wide, the emergence of responsive web design has reduced the usage of search apps, as responsive sites offer a far better consumer experience on mobile devices. It’s also easier and more cost-efficient to make changes to a responsive website than it is an app.
For these reasons, we’ve made the decision to remove the Windermere iOS app from the Apple Store on September 15. Consumers who have the app will be able to continue using it on their mobile devices, but it will no longer be supported or updated in any way by Windermere. These resources will now be redirected to other priorities, such as Windermere.com. *Please note that this change in no way impacts the iOS version of TouchCMA; it will continue to be supported and improved upon.
If you have clients who use the Windermere iOS app, you should encourage them to uninstall the app from their mobile device and redirect them to the new mobile-friendly Windermere.com.
