Condo wave leaves renters battered?

Seattle Times, Condo wave leaves renters battered:

In 2006, more than 2,300 rental units were converted to condos in Seattle, up from 430 in 2004.

As a renter for the last three years in Seattle I feel like renting has been a good deal. There was a lot of inventory when I was looking and my rent has only gone up $15 ($1650 to $1665/mn.) I definitely don’t feel battered. And maybe I’m just odd but I actually asked my apartment owner if they were thinking of converting to condos, because if they were I would definitely stick around and buy in this building, The Carroll Apartments, because it’s great.
