Gallery move in schedule is as follows:

As summer comes to a close, so too does construction at Gallery. Move-ins for floors 1-5 are scheduled for early September while floors 6-9 will follow at the end of September or the beginning of October. The final floors, 10-13, are scheduled for October

is anyone trying to get out of a pre-sale and get their earnest money back? I bought at gallery last sept and finally saw the finished product – NOT impressed. It is an 800SF loft, and it is TINY. They refuse to negotiate on price.

beth – what is your argument for trying to get out of a legal contract you signed? is there a significant difference in square footage? or does the unit just “feel” small. if the square footage is what they sold to you, then i doubt you would get your money back.

i bought at this building and its was as described. i actualy thought they did a great job on the finishes and were very professional transitioning the unit to me. besides the square footage, i’m curious as to what disappointed you.

beth – I’ll make an outrageous assumption that you are really disappointed with the depreciation in value of your condo since purchase and you are disappointed that the seller is not willing to chip in and share your pain (as they have not legal obligation to do so). I also suspect that if the market value was 20% higher, you wouldn’t be disclosing your naivity about the size of a square foot. From the Gallery website, I see the two sold one bedroom Skylofts are 779 sq ft and 832 sq ft respectively. They both have very sizable terraces and excellent views. For a loft though, 800 sq ft is TINY in any building, and that doesn’t change once it is built. You probably should have discovered that before you signed. We all make mistakes – I certainly do. The earnest money is the best representation of your commitment to go through with the purchase as set out inthe contract. It is also the cost of walking away. Goof luck in your decision – joe.

joe – yes I was naive albeit stupid for not knowing that an 800SF loft is small. If you look at the plans, the bedroom states “open to below”. There is a 3 foot wall in the bedroom blocking the view, so if I lay down, all I see is a wall. I guess I could buy a bunkbed, but I’m backing out. Just not impressed for the money. View is good, but not great. I have hired an attorney working on contingency to see if I can get some earnest money back. Will keep you posted.
