Hard Hat Tour: AMLI South Lake Union
Last week, AMLI South Lake Union hosted its very first official tour through their new luxury apartment complex, and Urban Living was there to snap some photos! Located right across the street from the current AMLI complex at 535 Pontius Ave North in South Lake Union, these new rental units are still under construction, but they are already open for leasing with move-in dates scheduled for May 2014. AMLI SLU is targeting LEED Silver Certification and is designed to maximize energy efficiency.
There were several things in particular that struck us about the new AMLI SLU community. First, it is located right next to the site where the fossilized mammoth tusk was dug up earlier this year, meaning renters could be living on a piece of historically significant Seattle property. Second, AMLI SLU is already in hot demand, with 25 of its 175 units already leased since leasing began in December 2013. That’s not much of a surprise considering AMLI’s close proximity to downtown, the Amazon campus, and the Lake Union waterfront. Finally, we loved the incredibly spacious feel of each AMLI SLU unit we visited. There will be a mix of studio, one bedroom, and two bedroom units available, and even the studios (which average 500 square feet) don’t feel terribly cramped thanks to the open layout and the incredibly high 9-11 foot tall ceilings. Each unit comes with vinyl plank floorings, ceiling fans, quartz countertops, modern kitchens with stainless steel appliances, washers and dryers, and spacious bathrooms.
Another element about AMLI SLU that sounded appealing was its focus on building a close knit community of residences. Our first stop on the tour was to the building’s expansive sky deck. While still under construction, the deck showed off an impressive view of Lake Union and a huge communal space for enjoying the view. Lots of community programming for residences is also planned including movie nights and a partnership with Seattle’s Underdog sports leagues. In terms of amenities, AMLI SLU will be equipped with a state of the arts fitness center, clubhouse, business center, entertainment center, off-leash pet area, and pet spa. At the time of the tour, none of these amenities were completed for touring.
Price-wise, units at AMLI SLU are quoted at $2,200 for a large 850 square foot one bedroom unit, $2,600 for a 950 square foot 2 bedroom, and a little over $3,000 for the two 6th floor loft units.
