Must See Open Houses: July 26 and July 27
Looks like the weather’s clearing up just in time to check out some of the 308 Open Houses (!) in Seattle this weekend. I’ve pulled a few to get you started: two new constructions, one remodeled mid-century, and a complete wild card. Leave a comment if you see any of these, or any others that we should know about.
Neighborhood: Hillman City
Open House: Saturday, July 26th, 1-3 PM
Listed for $339,000, this 920 sq ft, 3 bedroom, 1 bath house is an excellent condo alternative. They’ve done a nice job with the remodel, but I’m forced to take exception with their use of the term “retro appliances” in the listing. I don’t think 1990’s appliances are the “retro” this 1970 home would be looking for. That said, it seems very functional for its size and has a perfect-sized yard for anyone who wants to feel the grass beneath their toes once in awhile without spending hours behind a lawnmower.
Neighborhood: Queen Anne
Open Houses: Saturday, July 26th, 12-5 PM and Sunday, July 27th, 12-5 PM
This 2 bedroom, 2 bath townhouse on Taylor is a brand new Green Built home. Listed for $675,950, the living room feels pretty tight to me despite the open concept. I do notice, however, that climate is controlled via ductless mini-split heat pump. We added this to our house this past year and I can’t say enough positive things, especially since it also cools. (Sorry friends with no A/C.) The rooftop deck with lake and downtown views is also pretty great.
Neighborhood: Cedar Park
Open Houses: Saturday, July 26th, 12-2 PM and Sunday, July 27th, 1-3 PM
If you’re on the hunt for a larger home, this 4 bedroom, 3 bath house listed for $1,350,000 is over 4,000 square feet. The upside-down layout suits the location. Enjoy treetop views of Lake Washington from your expansive open concept main living space on the top floor. The lower-level, which opens out onto the back lawn, can function as additional living/studio space, or would make a nice mother-in-law.
Open House: Sunday, July 27, 1-4 PM
I already admitted that this is a bit of a wild card for Urban Living. The style is not our norm, but once I saw the moose, I just couldn’t pass this one up! Listed for $925,000, this 3,320 sq ft, 3 bedroom, 1.75 bath Spanish-style home has loads of character, taxidermy not withstanding. Terracotta tile roof, arched doorways, stained glass, leaded glass, exposed beams, decorative tile…a tower! And the updates, though obvious, have managed to maintain the style pretty well.
