Ballard, Lofts

ballard public lofts and market

Thanks to Keith for writing to give us the heads up about Ballard Public Lofts & Market. Looks like a pretty cool project.

I was just doing a little investigation at the building that has been under construction around the corner from my home in Ballard. Thought of you …

These are the apartments that are being built over the site of the old Viking Tavern. Billed as “true lofts” with “thoughtful finishes” that will focused on “wood and steel.”

Looks pretty good. The early market tenant is the green market that is now the Sunset Hill Greenmarket. They are renting some other spaces and looks like they are planning on having a restaurant and cafe.

There is underground parking, bike lockers and per the marketing, a public plaza with a waterfall, rooftop deck and a rooftop residents community with dog walk area and

I can’t imagine, given the cost of apartments in Ballard generally, that these lofts will be inexpensive.

The project architect is Johnston Architects who designed other projects we really like, like the Greenfire Campus, the Pass Life and Footprint at the BRidge. Here’s some construction photos. Unclear how old they are. And some details on the retail.
