The number of homes for sale is at an all time historic low, and with new listings finally hitting the market this week after the holiday lull buyers are chomping at the bit to get going on their home search.

Looking at this chart of when new listings hit the market, realize that we’re at the very beginning of the year and, while inventory is low, but growing, we will be seeing a lot more houses in the coming months. Don’t panic if your dream home doesn’t hit the market this week or next, and remember it is too early in the year to settle for a place you don’t love!

In the meantime, get pre-approved, find an agent you like and setup alerts on your favorite real estate site.

Sellers, no need to hold your horses! Buyers are ready to go, list your house now while there isn’t much competition.
