Myth: Floating Home Sales Happen by Word of Mouth

I’ve heard from my fellow floating home neighbors that to be able to buy a floating home that you have to be in the know as the majority of floating home sales happen via word of mouth. That is, they happen off market, and never appear on the MLS/Redfin.

Well, that simply is not true. We analyzed the 22 floating home sales from 2016 and only 2 were off market deals, the remainder were posted on the MLS for all to see. Conventional homes likely have a higher percentage of off market sales than floating homes do!
