Weekly wrap-up: buyers acting like it is peak buying season

By January 25, 2021

Market Report

Seattle buyers are putting a lot of homes under contract! 269 last week, up 15% week-over-week and putting us at levels we don’t normally see until peak buying season. We were indeed busy last week helping two buyers get under contract and our listing at Trace found a buyer. Though we’re still looking for a buyer for our Capitol Hill townhome, a great condo at Nexus and an updated co-op in Queen Anne. The craziest story we heard was a buyer paying $2.35m cash for this Cle Elum getaway listed at $1.8m.

While buyers are the headline, sellers are getting their act together earlier than usual with 258 new listings last week. Some of the stand-out ones include a Ralph Anderson on Mercer Island, and an updated home by the Arboretum. Though if you have a few minutes, check out the interiors on this Lake Sammamish waterfront. Wow!

Reminder – we have a Zoom home buying class Wednesday at noon if you want the low down on how to buy a home in 2021.

P.S. wondering why prices have risen so much the last ten years? This graph shows why.

I own and manage Urban Living, a boutique Seattle and Bellevue real estate brokerage. I love lofts, floating homes, new construction, and mid-century moderns, but I will help you buy or sell just about anything!
