Eastside weekly wrap-up: record # of homes under contract as we head into summer

By May 29, 2021

Market Report

If you read Matt’s weekly report for Seattle, we’ve got essentially the same news for our readers on the Eastside. As expected, listing agents advised their sellers to get their homes on the market last week or wait until after Memorial Day.

Only 159 new listings on the Eastside resulted in a drop of 49% week-over-week. If we continue to follow the 2019 trends, we should see new listings increase next week but not to the highs we’ve already seen the last couple of weeks.

Also mirroring Seattle, buyers on the Eastside put a record number of homes under contract this past week at 284. Bellevue and Kirkland were by far the most popular with both cities seeing more than 60 homes under contract each. Issaquah, Redmond, and Sammamish only saw 35-40 homes put under contract. Renton saw even less activity with 28.

Homes that we loved this week were a modern ski cabin at Snoqualmie Pass, this secluded oasis with a loft in Bridle Trails, and this mid-century modern in Clyde Hill. This mid-century modern with a pool and a basketball court went pending after just one day on the market! Let us know if there’s something you want to go see as homes are still selling quickly.
