Austin A. Bell Overview

The Austin A. Bell condo building is a historic landmark located on one of Seattle’s most vibrant blocks. Constructed as a hotel in 1889 and designed by noted architect Elmer Fisher, it was named after William Bell’s son, Austin. The hotel was nearly destroyed by a fire in 1981, but the strong brick façade managed to survive. It was carefully restored from 1997 to 1999 by Murray Franklyn and Snell Partnership, then converted into a condo complex. One-, two- and three-bedroom homes at the Austin A. Bell are charming and historic with oversized windows and Space Needle views. Homes here come equipped with spacious kitchens, hardwood floors, in-unit washer/dryers, secured parking and storage. With a 98 Walk Score, it’s easy to get to trendy restaurants, cafes, and transit options, as well as Amazon, Pike Place Market, Seattle Center and the waterfront.
