Today, the nation’s oldest and largest home show opens at Century Link event center. The 2013 edition of the Seattle Home Show takes place from February 16-24, and will showcase the latest trends in home design and construction. Swing by and get inspired by home construction ideas such as a backyard cottage built with only a rubber mallet, or the “Bainbridge,” a brand new home that boasts energy-efficient and green construction.

Other features include a Wine Tasting and Outdoor Living Garden, an 11,000 square foot exhibit showcasing the latest in outdoor living trends, and a unique fundraising activity benefiting Habitat for Humanity:

“Each weekend, Northwesterners will be swimming on site to raise money for Habitat for Humanity at “Swim for Habitat for Humanity,” courtesy of Aqua Quip, BECU and the Seattle Home Show.   Swimmers are signed up for up to one hour of swimming in a swim spa located at the Seattle Home Show each weekend, during which timethe swimmer cannot touch any part of the swim spa, any person or any object.  Even if swimmers don’t make it the full hour, the time they spend will raise money for this important non-profit.”

Show hours are: Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Sundays, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Monday through Friday, 12 noon to 8 p.m.  Admission: $12.00 adults, $8.00 seniors (60+), $3.00 juniors (7-15) under 7 free.  E-tickets are available for purchase online at www.SeattleHomeShow.com and include free parking,
