Lofty Northgate condo is a nice segue to the 1970s

By April 7, 2020

Northgate, Seattle Condos

10765 Burke Ave N Unit 14 was built in 1969, and carries plenty of playful midcentury modern features: Neat little cubbies surround a kind of central-atrium design. Minimalist, functional built-ins make for tidy layouts. It’s airy, but efficient.

It comes from a time of transition: It’s tucked under a two-story mansard roof, which was growing in popularity at the time, giving walls around the edges a slight tilt. The windows towering over the cathedral ceiling are in more of a contemporary style. But it’s dressed up in wood paneling and well-placed pendant lighting, showing that it still takes well to classic midcentury style.

There’s also just plenty to love here: It lives like a house, with a two-story layout that includes four decks. Residents share a communal garden, there’s a pool, too.
