Eastside weekly wrap-up: summer slowdown continues

By August 21, 2021

Market Report

After a slight bump last week, new listings on the Eastside softened by 5% this week as head towards the end of the summer. This doesn’t come as a huge surprise (despite last week’s surprise in Seattle) based on the last two years – new listings slow in the second half of August before popping the week after Labor Day.

Buyers also took a break last week, certainly to enjoy the remainder of summer since the high heat has seemed to break off. I’d expect most buyers to put their home search on the back burner until after school is in session.

Despite the low number of new listings, there were a good number of homes that caught our attention. Our favorite is this $10M modern new construction in Clyde Hill; also check out this $6.4M NW contemporary new construction nearby. On Mercer Island, our favorite this week is this untouched $1.9M mid-century modern on the market for the first time. Also on Mercer Island, a $2.6M mid-century modern designed by Leo S Fischer.

For extraordinary, buyers have the choice of NBA Legend Bill Russell’s (go Celtics!) Mercer Island home or a Duvall winery and B&B listed at $2.8M!
