Eastside weekly wrap-up: just 95 new listings

By September 3, 2023

Market Report

Happy Labor Day weekend! It should be no surprise that the week before a holiday weekend, we saw an incredibly low number of new listings on the Eastside. Just 95 – a 37% drop week-over-week! If you look at the last several years, that’s spot on with what usually happens in the last week of August. The number we’ll actually be watching is next week’s new listing count because most sellers are advised to get their homes on the market the week after Labor Day!

Buyers stayed active though! Even though pending sales are down ever so slightly, 133 homes under contract is roughly even with the two weeks prior. Interest rates dropping back to 7.08% definitely got some folks off the sidelines and we’re all hoping that we’ll see a large amount of activity next week as well! Active inventory on the Eastside dropped 11% to 701 homes for sale.

Only a few homes stood out this week, all with lake views! A Bellevue home built in 2019 with east-facing Lake Sammamish views, a mid-century Mercer Island home overlooking Lake Washington and it’s private tennis court went pending in two days, and it’s not every day you see a waterfront home on nearly 2 acres in Hunt’s Point!
