Eastside weekly wrap-up: not even holidays slow down buyers
We were expecting fewer new listings this week but 34 new sellers was certainly lower than expected. The year is certainly wrapping up closer to 2019 than 2020 and we can expect one last small push for new listings next week. Likely still fewer than 100 listings – remember that 2020 was having an end of year surge due to the first wave of pandemic re-openings.
Sellers, it’s still proving to be a good time to list your home if it’s move-in ready and accurately priced! Buyers put 93 homes under contract this week, grabbing up every home that hit the market the week before! Next week is likely the last week for buyers to find a house before the end of the year.
Another note for sellers; hold to your offer review dates. That early offer looks tempting but you’re usually leaving money on the table! We came in second place on a house in Woodinville this week – the sellers turned down an early offer around $1.2M and the winning offer was over $1.3M cash, a two-week close, and no contingencies (ours was above $1.2M as well!).
Not surprisingly, no one listed a cool home over the holiday. If you’re like me, you’ll start hanging lights and pulling out decorations today so make sure your ladders are secure and you do it safely! Not for the first time, I’m considering hiring a professional to hang lights – maybe next year!
