A House Fit For An Electric Car

By November 12, 2012

Sure, the new home you’re looking at may have plenty of bedrooms, a roof top deck, stainless steel appliances or other amenities, but does it have a place to charge your new GM Volt?

One open house we visited over the weekend boasts an electric car charging station in the attached garage. Developer urbanVision, LLC says it’s one of the features that make their three new Beacon Hill townhouses efficient and eco-friendly.

We immediately went down to the garage, expecting to find a fancy machine mounted on the wall. But as the photo above shows, the “charging station” is just a large outlet capable of spitting out 240 volts. The seller’s agent says several potential buyers liked the amenity, including a man who wants to buy a Tesla electric car.

Other environmental-friendly features advertised at these homes on 17th Ave and S. State St. include dual flush toilets, triple pane high efficiency windows, and a heat recovery ventilation system. UrbanVision, LLC says the structures are 5-star certified under the Built Green program, which is administered by the Master Builders Association of King and Snohomish Counties.

Aside from the environmental factor, the free-standing homes feature three bedrooms and three and a quarter baths and are more than 1,700 sq ft. The first home, located in the middle of the block, came on the market last week and is listed for $480,000. The two homes to the east will come online in late November, both should be priced in the same price range. The agent says he has already received an offeron the first home.

Overall, the home has a modern and open feel. The living room and kitchen are laid out in an open concept. The master suite has a spacious closet and a well-sized rectangular bathroom. Also, check out the large deck on the roof that has territorial views of Beacon Hill and the Rainier Valley.
