Buy unit #3102 at Cosmo and get a Benz

October 1st, 2007 · Comments · By Matt

Thanks to ‘jo’ for sending me a pointer to 819 Virginia St #3102. Turns out for $1 million you get both a 1310 square foot condo at the Cosmo on the 31st floor and a “2006 CLS 550 AMG Silver on [sic] Black Mercedes”. Here’s the marketing remarks:

Incredible views of Elliott Bay, lake Union & the Space Needle from this lovely 31st floor home with floor to ceiling windows. Lustrous hardwood floors and granite kitchen with enormous island, gas fireplace, air conditioning, 2 balcony’s one off kitchen & 2nd bedroom. Rooftop garden & patio to enjoy the outdoors. This home comes with 2 parking spaces along with a 2006 CLS 550 AMG Silver on Black Mercedes. LIVE in luxury DRIVE in luxury. An opportunity like this does not come along very often.

I think they should have staged and took professional photos of the place before offering the car but you all know how bad I am at trying to sell condos.

    2702 at 980k? huh?

    A 1% price drop? 990k to 980k?

Good luck with that when 2802 rented for less than 3k/ mo.

FYI to everyone 2702 will be coming back on soon for around $980,000 w/two parking spaces and as you all probably know the views on that side of the building are protected as of know. Faulkner is building out that way but much smaller and further away.

They tried something similar at a development in San Francisco. Buyers could get a Mini Cooper 'thrown' in with purchase. As deejayoh points out, financing a car - any car - over 30 years is NOT a good deal. To the best of my knowledge the Mini Cooper thing didn't work. I doubt this will either.

3102's listing price had already been lowered from 1.1m to 999k a few months ago. Now it's back up. All I can say is that a *used* Benz isn't gonna do it for someone who is forking over 1M+ for a condo.
  • It is creative and maybe the buyer can use it as leverage to forgo the car and reduce the purchase price. Definitely an attention getter.

That would turn me off completely if I were looking. I don't drive, and even if I did I'd probably have my own preference for type of car. Basically, any buyer would have to love both the condo and the car -- if not, they'd be wasting money.
