First Church re-launched their website today. Lots of floor plans and renderings. Looks like 2 of the units are already sold.
Sechrist Design is doing the interiors but you have the opportunity to get a raw shell:
Individuals who wish to purchase a raw shell unit, have the ability to join the design process in visualizing their new home. Work with Sechrist Design Associates or with your own designer, bring your ideas to fruition.
Exciting!

Approximately $600K to $1.4 million for a place …..wow…not too shabby if you are into the historical essence of this place. So for the smallest unit at 1104 sq. ft., you’re looking at about $540 a sq. ft. Damn, at that price, you’re closer to God and maybe that will count towards your Sunday collection basket contributions :) hahahaha….

What’s next? Morgue Conversions? Prison cell to studio conversions?

Oh c’mon eCon, don’t be such a party pooper. These big old historic churches are either going to get torn down (which would suck in most cases), turned into civic/community centers or converted into something useful. Since no one was stepping up to buy it as a community resource, this outcome is preferable to a tear down.
It’s hardly as silly as a prison cell or morgue to turn a huge church, with far fewer members than can support such a large building, into condos.
I do wonder what the middle of the space (under the dome) is going to be used for? Common room? Giant mailboxes for the owners? Indoor off-leash doggie park? Skating rink?

EconE, clearly you haven’t been to Chapel for drinks! It’s an old funeral chapel now turned bar.

Oh, I’d kill for a Capitol Hill ice rink.

Oh c’mon you guys…you should know that I was kidding.
Does a condo purchase there include free “redemption”?
;o)

ice rink? friggin canadian. Take your hockey skates and go back to your hoose in Newfoundland, you seal clubber!
I meant a roller skating rink. Disco balls and everything.
But seriously, I understand why it was hard for them to use that space, but it’s gonna be weird. The floor plans for the larger condos are very vertical - not sure I would love walking up/down 3 flights of stairs to get from my bedroom to the “living room”. But it’s a cool project, nonetheless.
