Escala Featured in Alaska In-Flight Magazine!

July 21st, 2008 · Comments · By Matt

Escala sent out an email today touting the fact that they (and the Four Season) were featured in the latest issue of Alaska’s in-flight magazine [pdf] as if that’s like being feature in the New York Times or something:

Escala has garnered impressive media attention in recent weeks, including a feature in the July Alaska Airlines and Horizon Airlines in-flight magazines on luxury condo living.

I’d put the Alaska in-flight magazine slightly above the Saturday New Homes section in the local papers.

  • The best thing about that article is that they insinuate that 'superblocks' are a good thing. God forbid that the people living in these places get out of their 'entire neighborhood within the single development' and partake in the city life. Jane Jacobs would have been horrified by these mega-projects...

after the countless advertising $$$'s that the Seattle condo developers have thrown at the airlines maybe it was about time for them to do an article...I mean...free multi page advertisement about them.

Maybe they should just sell condos in the SkyMall magazine. You can order one from your flight attendant, and pick up the keys to your new overpriced condo when you de-plane.

This is like walking around with a gold star that you bought from Michaels. "We won, we're the best!!!!"

I guess the news here is that Escala continues to throw money at advertising for their project. Perhaps they will send out a news release for all of their ads.
  • It's late news as well, in the sense that there's been an Alaska Air magazine story on every one of the downtown high-rise condos for at least the last 3 months... and yes it's loaded with ads as well. I think the biggest condo story in the mag in July was that massive project in Bellevue.

The lousy marketers in Seattle will stop at nothing. But THIS is about as low as it gets. Its unbelievable the self-importance they feel they have in driving their POS projects around this city. Seriously, the Alaska Airlines flight magazine? That's pretty damned hilarious. Pathetic, pathetic, pathetic. Nobody cares!

Don't you just pay to be in magazines like that? Was there an conveniently placed Escala ad a few pages later?
