Amy Janof’s Magnolia Modern Gem

By December 14, 2019

Magnolia

3705 W Barrett St is a stunning Magnolia modern home. Designed by architect Amy Janof, while she lived just four blocks from the site, the home was designed for a gemologist:

This modern gem in Magnolia uses compound geometries inspired by the owner’s background in gemology. Roofs are tilted on the diagonal to capture spectacular views of Mt. Rainier and the city skyline, and walls of glass create a minimalist interior of light and warmth. The result is a literal jewel box for family living.

Janof Architecture

The Seattle Times has even more detail on the home, Architect Amy Janof transforms a diamond in the rough into a modern gem. For instance here’s the back story on that mural in the dining room:

That giant whole-wall, custom hand-painted mural in the dining area obviously pops with gorgeous shades of green — but it’s also a close-up of the lustrous mineral fluorite.

But you don’t need to be a gemologist to appreciate the amazing views, walls of windows, and plenty of space at nearly 4,000 square feet for four bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. Re-built in 2016, the home is practically brand new and sits on a 6,082 square foot lot.

Priced at $2.75m.
