Seattle weekly wrap-up: happy holidays!
We had a great time Sunday at our holiday party at the Kraken Community Iceplex. (That’s our daughter pushing Santa on a “seal”). We’re looking forward to hosting that again next year!
Before we got our skate on, we were busy last week helping a buyer purchase at Avenue Bellevue and another win a bidding war on a Fremont townhome (only went $20k over!) As you can see though, sellers weren’t particularly busy (118 new listings), but buyers were (187 homes went under contract). And as you can see from previous years, this week and next will be quiet.
No new listings caught our eye, but a few articles did. The first is a Seattle Times article looking at the decline in new townhomes is worrisome (as much as I dislike (the design of) most new townhomes). The second, construction rebound has been fast on Eastside, slow in Seattle. And finally the NYT on how we don’t talk about what remodels costs.
If you’ve enjoyed the newsletter this year and feel inclined to make a donation, we’ve set up a fundraiser for Mary’s Place. They are an organization that provides safe, inclusive shelter and services that support women, children, and families on their journey out of homelessness. Urban Living will match all your donations. If you’d prefer to donate offline, just forward us your receipt and we’ll match it. Last year we raised over $4,400!
Happy holidays!

PS. If you’re looking for a contemporary gingerbread kit, my daughter Ani and I recommend the Barbie Dreamhouse Cookie Kit :) (note, it is cookie not gingerbread)
