Weekly wrap-up: record # of homes pending last week
The number of homes going under contract in Seattle set a record high for the year this past week, at 326. Which is higher than the highest week last year – 293 during the last week of April. Good news for all those buyers is that mortgage rates set a new record low. I’m also unsure we’ll see a week that busy again in a while, but we’re in uncharted territory.
While new listings were down from the week before, there were some great new listings like this $2.4m custom home that once you tour will make you swear off spec homes forever. In a similar vein is this $2m West Seattle custom (if it weren’t for that bridge problem…) or this $4m home on Capitol Hill.
Mid-century fans – this funky Broadview one is already pending but here’s a good one in Lake Forest Park and another in Meadowbrook. The record setting sale last week was a LFP MCM that went for nearly 30% over asking.
Want to join us living on the water? A lot of floating homes hit the market like this $1.9m 808 square foot home with one of the best views in the city, or this nearly $4m modern home. The craziest is this $4.6m houseboat where you don’t even own the slip. It will be interesting to see if the hot weather brings the buyers.
Loft fans – check out the new listings at Trace Lofts and Veer.
Though the talk of the town is this $1.4m like new home on Queen Anne embroiled in a lawsuit that has led the seller who never moved in to fire sale it (they paid nearly $2m!). Should be an interesting one to watch.
