The 1521 Photos They Wouldn’t Let Me Take

Here are the photos 1521 didn’t trust me to take.

As you can see they turned out much better than my usual amateur photography. However, they don’t show you the controversial unit A entry. I would have!

And if you’re curious about who lives at 1521 or who is considered VIP enough to attend their grand opening, check out this gallery. No I wasn’t invited.

They also have a video on their site. CAUTION: Annoying audio starts playing without you asking for it. When I tried to watch the video there were two overlapping audio streams. Needless to say, I didn’t make it through.

“CheapSh*tCondos” isn't kidding.. Second Ave in front of that building is one giant open-air drug market. As bad as 3rd & Pike on some nights even. Most of it revolves around that little market there. SPD could do over a dozen arrests each night there if they wanted.

Okay, well, I actually like this building and think it is a well-done and tasteful space. It feels very peaceful inside when I've toured it, and didn't seem overly “frilly.” Snobs in the building aside, it has amazing views from all the units and top-notch finishes that were done in an understated and muted tone. IMO it is hard to beat as far as finish levels, views, location, and build quality are concerned.

Now, on to the druggies in that area… THE COPS NEED TO WAKE UP AND START CLEANING UP THAT NEIGHBORHOOD! I honestly cannot believe the cavalier attitude the city police have toward the gross usage of drugs, hookers (noc noc across the street), and pimps in that area. It isn't THAT hard to set full-time cops on the street to start getting the trash out of there. It is a high-traffic tourist area, business in the day, and ever increasingly residential. The city is soon to have a liability on its hands if it doesn't do SOMETHING about it.

That area has the potential to become a very nice neighborhood. I wonder how long the richie riches at 1521 Second Attitude (and the new residents at Four Seasons) are going to put up with that crap before they band together and create a formalized case against the city if the City doesn't do better to clean it up? Mark my words right now… it will definitely happen within a year.

I believe Romel, one of the managers at Barneys says he's moving in there. He sold his place in Crystalla or so. I raves about this 1521 and is quite snobby about it. I can't figure how his salary would allow him to live in such places :)

What? No picture public health department's needle exchange next door? Seems like at least as useful an amenity to brag about as the posh conference room or the poor old tree they butchered for the lobby wall.

Anyway, throwing up a snobby, vertical gated community in the middle of a shady area does absolutely nothing for the city or the neighborhood. I predict the new residents will park their little volvos in the garage and drive in and out of building, avoiding contact with the Noc Noc patrons. They'll complain about the streets with their friends in the Four Seasons and, sip wine at Union, and talk about the vibrant urban life they're living in the midst of the Lusty Lady.

Admittedly, the building is charming on the exterior, if you don't count the garage podium below. But overall, this is just another hangout for the new money set. I can't wait to see what's left of their tolerance if they spend more than a few minutes at that bus stop downstairs…

This looks like the home I always dreamed. I will do whatever is in my power to raise enough money to be able to have a house like this, somewhere near seashore. Now I am glad I’m finishing my Narconon treatment and I will be able to go and work again.

A house built in this manner will never have the so known Chinese Drywall problems. Honestly as the price grows the quality is becoming better too and this is why in my opinion if I will ever build my own home I'll use the best quality stuffs.
